Q: When does the season take place?

A: On field activities begin in January. Teams are drafted and hold practices in February, season play starts in March and finishes up by June.

Q: How much does it cost to participate?

A: The league fee is $100 (subject to change) and includes your team jersey and league t-shirt.

Q: Can I bring my own team into the league?

A: No. Teams are determined via a player draft. The league holds two clinics at the beginning of the season where team captains can evaluate players and determine who they want to pick. Following the second clinic, the team captains meet in a closed room and conduct the player draft until all players are chosen. You must participate in at least one of the two clinics and pay your league fee in order to be eligible to be drafted.

Q: Do I need prior football experience to participate in the league?

A: No. You are eligible to participate and be drafted to a team regardless of your age, gender, sexual orientation or experience. The league only requires that you sign a waiver, pay your league fee and attend at least one of the two clinics to be eligible. New players are encouraged to attend both clinics.

Q: When and where are the games held?

A: The games are held on Saturdays at the fields of Doyle Recreation Center in La Jolla, located at 8175 Regents Road, San Diego CA 92122. Game times vary each week depending on your team's schedule, but they usually start at 9AM, 10:30AM or 12PM.

Q: I would like to be a sponsor, who should I contact?
A: If you are interested in becoming a team or league sponsor, please contact Mike Paganelli at mike@sdaffl.com.

Q: What do the various events listed on the season schedule entail?

A:

Pub Crawl - Open to the first 80 people to show up - Specific details and route to follow shortly
Rookie Camps - Designed for newcomers to learn the game of football, learn football techniques and ask questions in a controlled, non-intimidating environment. Only new players are allowed to attend these camps. We will explain the game, answer questions, teach skills and run through some skill stations so you can practice what you've just learned. The camps are run be veteran league members that are skilled at teaching and encouraging new potential members. There is no obligation to participate in the camps -- if you like what you see and determine the game is for you, then attend the clinics that follow in the following weeks.  Athletic cleats (specifically football or soccer) are strongly suggested.
Clinics - These are not tryouts, as everyone that wants to participate and pays their league fee will be drafted to a team. The clinics are, however, a chance for team captains to evaluate your abilities as you participate in the skill stations so they can develop their player draft order.  The various stations include: Catching, running, footwork, route running, flag pulling, etc..
Draft and Draft Party - At the conclusion of clinic #2 our team captains will go into a private setting and draft their teams from all the players that are available. To be eligible to be drafted you must have participated in a least one of the two clinics (preferrably both) and have payed your league fee. Once the draft is complete, the league will conduct a draft party where all the teams are announced and you will have your first chance to meet your new teammates.  Jersey colors and team sponsors are also selected at this event.
Team Practices - Once you have been selected to a team, your team will begin three weeks of practices to prepare for the season.  Your team captain will manage your team's practice schedule.
Start of the season - All team play occurs on Saturdays. There are three game start times - 9AM, 10:30AM and 12PM. The noon games usually finish by 2PM. A finalized schedule will be generated once teams are selected.
Miscellaneous - Your league fee is $100. This fee pays for your team jersey (yours to keep), a league t-shirt, referee fees, field fees, field painting services, insurance, etc.
